Get Connected: Conflicts of Interest

Because of the complex nature of the university’s work in a wide range of areas, there are many compliance requirements that intersect with individual activities and roles in different ways. Each topic section listed below gives a brief overview of the U-M compliance resources available in that area and contact information for experts who can help you.

To maintain the University of Michigan’s credibility in the eyes of the public, it is important that all members of the campus community disclose any potential conflicts of interest (COI) or conflicts of commitment (COC) as soon as they arise so that they can be evaluated objectively and, if necessary, managed or eliminated.

In addition to SPG 201.65-1, university employees are governed by their unit-level faculty or staff COI/COC policy.  The resources below provide more information about these policies and what you need to do as a responsible University of Michigan employee.
