Because of the complex nature of the university’s work in a wide range of areas, there are many compliance requirements that intersect with individual activities and roles in different ways. Each topic section listed below gives a brief overview of the U-M compliance resources available in that area and contact information for experts who can help you.

For Faculty

The Faculty Ombuds is a confidential, impartial, informal and independent resource for information or conflict management that serves all faculty members of the University of Michigan campus community. They assist those who seek guidance with the resolution of academic or administrative issues and disputes that are not being adequately addressed through other university processes.

The Office of Student Conflict Resolution provides a variety of programs and services designed to support a safe, just and peaceful community, and to help Michigan students learn how to peacefully manage and resolve conflict.

UM-Dearborn Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution

Dearborn’s Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution is dedicated to encouraging responsible community conduct, educating the campus community, and implementing disciplinary action in situations where violations of the Student Conduct Code have occurred.

Office of the Ombuds

The Office of the Ombuds is a place where students’ questions, complaints and concerns about the functioning of the university can be discussed confidentially in a safe environment. They offer informal dispute resolution services, provide resources and referrals and help students consider options available to them.
