If you act responsibly and report what you believe to be a legitimate compliance or ethics concern, you should not experience retaliation. You may even bring forward concerns through the U-M Compliance Hotline anonymously. However, keep in mind that certain reports may be difficult for the university to pursue if you choose to remain anonymous.
Remember: even concerns that may seem “minor” or “insignificant” are worth sharing. Only through open discussion can we advance the mission of the university and ensure that we are living up to our principles and legal and regulatory obligations.
For emergency situations or if a crime is in progress, call 911.
For a non-emergency situation that relates to suspected criminal activity, call the Department of Public Safety & Security at (734) 763-1131, or if you wish to remain anonymous, 1-800-863-1355.
Before starting the reporting process, you should first contact your supervisor or unit manager. If you want to raise a concern without contacting your supervisor or manager, there are several other ways you can report your concern:
If you have a compliance question or are not even sure if a concern should be reported, you can always start by submitting a question.
